Aristotle, in prior Analytics, classifies the predicative proposition into two kinds: designate [universal or particular] and undesignated. The precursor Islamic logicians classify it in "De Interpretation" and add the third kind: singular. The recent two – fold logicians of the 7 th A.H century adde Tabiiyyah (physical) to it. Allameh Hilli suggested five – fold classification. Today current view is for recent two – fold logicians but Hilli’s view influences recent usuliyyun (jurists). Historical development o classification of predicative proposition is upon this subject. Since logicians reduce the undesignated to particular and the generic to singular, We can reduce the classification to two kinds. This classification is made upon the structural distinguishment of proposition [not its subject].
