Abstract

Ibn ldris al - Hilli ( 543 - 598 ) AH. the great shiite jurist who with his" Kitab al - Sarair al - Hawi Ii Tahrir al - Fatawi " and with his knowledged daring and spirit broke the barriers that for
about a century had kept the masters of the shiite law in silence and decline, has an eminent place among the shiite jurists. His
valuable book studies a complete course of shiite law with an analytical approach and contains special features which the author of this essay tries to present in a list form. The most important of the these features are: Disregard for khabar al ¬
wahid , constant attention to Quranic verses, emphasis on consensus, dealing with Sheikh Tusi's views mostly in a critical way, regard for other jusist's views through a critical and


analytical approach, avoiding imitation completely, considering the views of the Sunnis and studying some of the issues in a comparative way.
