readings and variants, this hypothesis can be suljected to criticism . Therefore, the roots of the differences in the variants should be once more studied and the greater causes and factors of such differences be distinguished form the lesser ones and then, basing the concept and meaning of the variants on the afforementioned factors, one can come to a somewhat concrete
idea as to how far factors, issuing from the differences in readings, could have been the cause for homogeneity of the manuscripts of the Quran .
