Abstract

Is the intellect capable to reject or approve the religion? Is the faith the result of demonstration and reasoning or not? If the faith doesn't need any argument, on what will it be based? Mter a brief discussion on
these subjects, this article deals with the viewpoint of Ibn-e- J awzy on these matters. Ibn-e-J awzy as a preacher, interpreter, and Hanbali
Jurist, starts his book, Talbis - e - Iblis, emphasizing on the necessity of intellect and reasoning to acquire religious, but after blaming the philosophers and being unable to overcome them in debates, leaves the
reader wandering whether to grasp at the imitation and ignore the intellct or to rely on independant reasoning and leave the outward
appearances.
