Abstract

The first part of the present article surveys the charactristics of Isharat one of the philosophical books of Avicenna. Innovation in classification and
title-giving, literary and laconic prose, and comments on mystic terms relying on philosophical arguments in the last chapter of the book are some
characters of this book. Many scholars have witten commentaries on this book among which the commentary of Imam Fakhr Razi is the most brilliant. He

was the first to interpret the brief statements of this book and to open it to scholars. Razi in this commentary has frequently criticized Avicenna even on
the issues which have been proved by himself in his previous books. He has exagerated in his criticizm to the extent that his commentary is tranformed
into a critique. What was the reason? Didn't he enjoy a systematic epistemology? was he subjected to thought transformation through his
lifetime? or there were other causes? The preset article discusses these
probable causes.
