Abstract

The two ancient lands of Egypt and Syria enjoy an outstanding position in
Islamic history. The political, military, and social events occured in these two
lands cover a major part of Islamic history. Following the fall of Baghda-d
under Mongols, one of the greatest rules i.e. the rule of the Mamluks, which
showing support to Abbassid Caliphate lasted more than two and a half of
centuries, was formed in this region. Historigraphy was specitiically flourished
in this era, some valuable books were written, and historians such as Ibn
Kathir, Ibn Taghribardi, Ibn Hajar, Zahabi, Ibn Khaldun and Magrizi
appeared. This is a short survey and evaluation of these various works
