Abstract

Seyyed ‘Abdollah Sobbar, known as Majlesi the Second, is one of the greatest shi’i scholars of the 13 century. He owes his reputation to his interpretation of the Holy Quran and to his book named al- Aklaq (Ethic). His struggle against corruption anti to strengthen the Islamic sciences is scarcely known. Even during his own lifetime, he was not paid much attention. He was one of the greatest transmitters of shi’i traditions. This paper deals with his religious conceptions, especially by referring to two of his hooks which have not been edited yet, the Jami’ al-ahkam and the al-Maarif
